I was offered a Slimming World referral as a consequence of my weight. This was taken with a view to losing weight, moving myself out of a pre-diabetic range and lessening the impact of exercise on my damaged knees. I heard about Slimming World on Referral from my GP surgery – I think it’s rather unlikely I’d have joined if I’d not been referred and when I first went to group, I simply felt overweight.
Being overweight was affecting my health and during an assessment with my GP I was diagnosed as being pre-diabetic. I am now awaiting a medical assessment as to my blood sugar levels. I had constant knee pain (I have already had surgical repairs done to both knees) but since losing weight my knee pain is now occasional rather than constant. I’m more active now, as prior to being referred, I had already increased the amount of physical activity I was doing and had embarked on a daily regime of Aqua Aerobics, however, the best thing that’s happened as a result of my weight loss is that people have complimented me on my general appearance.
The thing I love most about Slimming World is Food Optimising and since my referral ended, I have continued to attend the group at my own expense with a view to reaching my goal of 14 stone.
